A SPECIAL HONOUR COMMITTEE ANNOUNCED FOR THE CAPITAL ONE WORLD MEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP IN CORTINA D’AMPEZZO (ITALY)

-From April 3rd to 11th Cortina hosts the 2010 Capital One World Men’s Curling Championship

-Journalist and economist Enrico Cisnetto presides the new committee

-The best twelve teams in the world ranking will be “sweeping” the Italian ice stadium

Less than two months to the Capital One World Men’s Curling Championship in Cortina d’Ampezzo (April 3-11), and the organizing committee, presided by Massimo Antonelli, keeps working hard so that the ‘first time’ of this big event in Italy, turns out simply flawless.

In the last days a special Honour Committee has been announced, and journalist and economist Enrico Cisnetto has been elected president of this committee. The main duty the new committee will be concerned about, will be to emphasise and provide the highest grade of prestige to the world event in the beautiful alpine resort town. In order to achieve this task, important people from politics, industry and show business will be invited to take part in the group.

Among those who already said ‘Yes’ to the 2010 Capital One World Men’s Curling Championship Honour Committee, there are Italy’s Minister of Tourism Michela Brambilla and Youth Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Governor of the Veneto Region – where Cortina is located – Giancarlo Galan, the CONI President Gianni Petrucci, the Mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno, the FIAT President Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the ENIT President Matteo Marzotto, the sport journalist and writer Rolly Marchi, and the famous Italian film director Enrico Vanzina.

Enrico Cisnetto is also creator and main organiser of “Cortina InConTra”, a prestigious series of events, which take place in Cortina during the summer and in the winter, and span the arenas of current affairs, business, entertainment, politics, economics, culture, journalism, art and music. ‘Besides being the Italian cradle of ice sports, Cortina is also the place where culture and current affairs always find their proper space”, claimed the Mayor of Cortina, Andrea Franceschi.

The best world curlers from Canada, China, Japan, Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the 2009 World Champions from Scotland, will be competing at the Olympic Ice Stadium in Cortina, from Saturday April 3rd until the 11th.

The Italian team taking part in 2010 Capital One World Men’s Curling Championship in Italy, is the 2009 National Champion “Team Retornaz Trentino Curling” from Trento. The last spot will be taken by the winner of the play-off game, a best three-out-of-five contest, between Brasil and the United States, scheduled on February 5th-7th in North Dakota (USA).
