On the introduction of the paper edition of this book Andrea wrote:
“An emoticon is a pictorial representation of a facial expression made with punctuation marks and letters, usually written to express a person’s mood.
With this app-book we wanted to remember that behind an emoticon there is a person that want to alert a responder about the tenor or temper of a statement, and change or improve interpretation of plain text in a virtual talk.
So we asked subjects first to choose an emoticon that become theirs mask and then we asked them to act the expression and mood of the same emoticon. At the end we asked to some subject to try an interaction with other people using emoticons….”
