Per la sua nuova personale alla Boccanera Gallery a Trento e Milano, Debora Hirsch presenta una serie di lavori inediti con i quali continua il suo affascinante lavoro di cucitura tra poli opposti, geografici, mentali e visivi. Tra passato e futuro, tra reale e virtuale, tra natura e artificio. Ogni opera dell\u2019artista \u00e8 l\u2019esito di uno straordinario lavoro di assemblaggio e dissimulazione. Dietro ogni opera si nasconde infatti un\u2019intelaiatura precisa di memorie e di pensieri, che spesso fanno riferimento al mondo da cui Debora Hirsch viene, il \u201cnuovo mondo\u201d; poi il processo pittorico porta, secondo quanto suggeriva il grande poeta brasiliano Oswald de Andrade, a cui il titolo della mostra rende omaggio, alla determinazione di una situazione inedita; immagini di un mondo \u201cultra nuovo\u201d che non cancella ci\u00f2 che \u00e8 stato, non elimina gli opposti ma li colloca dentro un orizzonte liquido dove tutto diventa ancora possibile. La pittura di Debora Hirsch \u00e8 la pittura di un nuovo mondo matriarcale, dove le immagini del mondo e della storia si ricompongono dentro un ordine che permette agli opposti di confluire uno nell\u2019altro, senza annullarsi. \u201cAt\u00e9 aqui\u201d, \u201cFino a qui\u201d indica proprio questo orizzonte sempre mobile, \u201cfirmamento\u201d come nel titolo\/suffisso di tutte le sue opere, verso il quale la pittura dell\u2019artista si \u00e8 sospinta.<\/p>\n
Tra i nuovi lavori che Debora Hirsch presenta a Trento c\u2019\u00e8 una serie di tele di formato quadrato, un formato sul quale l\u2019artista ha lavorato con singolare e significativa ostinazione. Il quadrato che nella cultura occidentale richiama la chiarezza della razionalit\u00e0, qui \u00e8 destinato a racchiudere immagini fluide, a volte quasi amniotiche, permeate di sostrati che sfuggono e portano verso profondit\u00e0 mutanti. Nel perimetro del quadrato, la chiarezza non viene affatto rinnegata, ma portata ad una condizione superiore e assume forme mobili, riluttanti ad ogni rigidit\u00e0 interpretativa. Eppure dentro quelle forme si condensano la storia, con tutte le sue ferite, come nel bellissimo \u201cFirmamento (pelourinho)\u201d, che richiama una colonna per le torture usata dai conquistatori; la geografia, con i fiumi che si fanno sistema venoso nel dipinto \u201cFirmamento (river veins)\u201d, la natura con le sue strutture quotidiane e insieme totemiche in \u201cFirmamento (calabash 2)\u201d.
\n\u00c8 un orizzonte nel quale la separazione tra pittura e digitale sfuma. Nelle tele compaiono filamenti che sono radici aeree e insieme nodi di reti. Cos\u00ec con molta fluidit\u00e0 le immagini slittano dentro gli schermi dei video di Deborah Hirsch, con la stessa naturalezza con cui galleggiano sulle tele. \u201cAt\u00e9 qui\u201d non \u00e8 un approdo ma un movimento che chiama sempre nuovi movimenti.<\/p>\n

For her new solo exhibition at the Boccanera Gallery in Trento and Milan, Debora Hirsch presents a series of recent paintings and videos in which she continues her fascinating work of stitching together opposing poles \u2013 geographical, mental and visual \u2013 between past and future, the real and the virtual, the natural and the artificial. Each of the artist\u2019s works is the result of an extraordinary process of assembly and dissimulation. Behind each work lies a precise construction of memories and thoughts, which often refer to the world from which Debora Hirsch comes, i.e. the \u2018new world\u2019. Then \u2013 as suggested by the great Brazilian poet Oswald de Andrade, to whom the title of the exhibition pays homage \u2013 the pictorial process leads to the emergence of an unprecedented situation: images of an \u2018ultra-new\u2019 world that does not erase what has been, that does not eliminate opposites but which places them within a liquid horizon where everything still remains possible. Debora Hirsch\u2019s painting is that of a new matriarchal sphere, where the images of the world and of history are recomposed in a configuration that allows opposites to flow into one another yet without being cancelled. At\u00e9 aqui \u2013 \u2018Up to Here\u2019 or \u2018Thus Far\u2019 \u2013 indicates this ever-moving horizon, the \u2018firmamento\u2019 mentioned in the title\/suffix of all her works, towards which the artist\u2019s painting has shifted.
\nAmong the new works Debora Hirsch is presenting in Trento there is a series of square canvases, a format on which the artist has worked with single-minded and meaningful obstinacy. The square, which in Western culture evokes the clarity of rationality, is here intended to enclose fluid images, at times almost amniotic, permeated with substrates that escape and lead towards mutant depths. In the perimeter of the square, clarity is by no means disavowed, but brought to a higher condition in which it assumes mobile forms, reluctant to embrace any interpretative rigidity. And yet within those forms, history is condensed, along with all its wounds, as in the beautiful \u2018Firmamento (pelourinho)\u2019, which recalls a whipping post used by the conquerors; geography, with rivers that become the venous system of painting \u2018Firmamento (river veins)\u2019; and nature with its everyday and at the same time totemic structures at \u2018Firmamento (calabash 2)\u2019.
\nIt is a horizon along which the separation between painting and digital imagery fades. Filaments appear on the canvases that are both aerial roots and networks nodes. Thus, with great fluidity, the images slide into the screens of Debora Hirsch\u2019s videos, just as naturally as they float across her canvases. At\u00e9 qui is not a landing place but a ceaseless movement that brings about new movements.<\/p>\n
