Boccanera è lieta di presentare la prima mostra personale italiana dell’artista rumeno Vlad Nancă. Non è la prima volta che Vlad Nancă utilizza la voce retrospettiva nel suo lavoro. Mentre rivede il passato – raccogliendo resti, collezionando luoghi comuni e spingendo ulteriormente il tutto contro un nuovo contesto – l’artista nutre curiosamente il presente nel modo simile in cui questa estrapolazione può essere usata per progettare il futuro. La cultura popolare, le storie personali, il folklore, le icone nazionali diventano inestricabilmente intrecciate: il corpo di un lavoro che è allo stesso tempo appropriato e giocoso. Il collezionismo viene trasformato in uno strumento creativo, poiché Nancă semiologo urbano e contorsionista ideologico, forza in esso tutte le sue antologie.<\/span><\/p>\n That ‘70s Show<\/span><\/em> diventa un ibrido tra un mercatino delle pulci e il Crystal Palace o, piuttosto, un giardino di sorprese decorate in stile modernista con orsi polari di porcellana (repliche del famoso “L’Ours Blanc” Art Deco di François Pompon), sculture brancusiane, lampadari di cristallo, una scultura mobile con mattonelle di ceramica (un omaggio al Padiglione Australiano di Hans Hollein alla Biennale di Venezia del 1972 e al lavoro di Jean-Pierre Raynaud) e un agrodolce slide show. I suoi numerosi progetti implicano l’utilizzo di diverse tecniche, oltre che simboli socio-culturali, includendo spesso giochi di parole, per evocare nostalgia, facendo riferimento al passato recente della Romania, e sfidare il clima culturale attuale. Tra le numerose mostre collettive, il lavoro di Nancă è stato incluso in A few grams of Red, Yellow, Blue<\/em>, al Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Ujazdowski Castle di Varsavia (2014); Image to be projected until it vanishes<\/em> al Museion di Bolzano (2011); DEMOC(K)RACY 1 a La Criée, Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Rennes (2011).<\/span><\/p>\n _<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Boccanera is delighted to present Romanian artist Vlad Nancă’s first solo exhibition in Italy. This show will center upon Nancă’s long-term engrossment in <\/span>70’s knick knacks, decors, interior designs, texts, and propaganda materials. The exhibition’s title, <\/span>That ‘70s Show<\/span><\/em>, <\/span><\/em>borrowed from the homonymous American sitcom, is setting the tone for this unprecedented meeting between Arte Povera and the 70’s <\/span>bling and glitz or, even better, between ostalgie<\/em> and nostalgia<\/em>. <\/span><\/p>\n It is not the first time when Vlad Nancă is using the retrospective voice within his work. While revising the past – gathering oddments, collecting <\/span>clichés, and further pressing them all against a new matrix – he is actually feeding the now <\/em>in a similar way extrapolation may be used to design the future. Popular culture, personal histories, folklore, national icons become inextricably intertwined, body of a work that is equally appropriate(d) and playful. Collecting is turned into a creative tool, as Nancă – the u<\/span>rban semiologist and ideological contortionist – forces all his anthologies in. <\/span><\/p>\n That ‘70s Show<\/span><\/em> becomes a hybrid <\/span>Flea-Market- Crystal-Palace, or rather a garden of surprises decorated in a modernist vein – with porcelain polar bears (replicas of Francois Pompon’s famous Art <\/span>Deco “L’Ours Blanc”),<\/span> Brancusian sculptures, crystal light fixtures, a ceramic tiles mobile (an homage to Hans Hollein’s 1972 Austrian Pavillion at the Venice Biennial and to the work of Jean-Pierre Raynaud), and a bittersweet slideshow. La mostra sarà incentrata sul processo di assorbimento a lungo termine di cianfrusaglie, arredi, interior design, testi e materiali di propaganda degli Anni ’70. Il titolo della mostra, That ‘70s Show<\/em>, preso in prestito dall’omonima sitcom americana, mostrerà questo incontro senza precedenti tra l’Arte povera e i vistosi ornamenti e sfarzi degli Anni ’70 o, ancora meglio, tra ostalgia <\/em>e nostalgia<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n
