Mentre in <\/span>The Velvet Glove <\/em>(2010), la sua precedente mostra nel medesimo spazio, Despotović si era confrontato con soggetti infantili, esterni e colori vibranti, <\/span>Silent Fracture<\/em> presenta una maggiore maturità, con tutte le contraddizioni che essa implica. Soggetti più maturi, quasi mistici e oscuri interni, sono l’effetto di una riflessione sulla sua esperienza personale, oltre che una ricerca sulla forma per il raggiungimento di soluzioni più astratte nella sua ricerca visuale.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Silent Fracture<\/span><\/em> può essere interpretata come una metafora degli aspetti culturali dell’identità artistica di Despotović — un artista che è stato, a causa delle sue origini, etichettato come Est Europeo, ma che ha effettivamente acquisito la sua educazione formale in Italia ed attualmente risiede a Berlino. Vive e lavora a Berlino. Nel 2006 si diploma in pittura presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia e nel 2011, presso lo stesso istituto, si laurea in Arti Visive e Discipline dello Spettacolo. Nel 2011 è stato in residenza presso la Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa di Venezia ed è stato invitato alla 54. Biennale di Venezia presso la sezione dell’Arsenale dedicata alle Accademie. Nel 2012 vince il premio Euromobil under 30 ad Arte Fiera Bologna e il Mango Young Artist Award a SWAB Barcellona.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Nebojša Despotović attinge a piene mani dal patrimonio iconografico collettivo recuperando vecchie fotografie e immagini, ritagli di giornali, libri, manuali e riviste, dalle quali l’artista parte per costruire le proprie opere pittoriche.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n La ricerca di Despotovic, attenta alla definizione e alla rappresentazione del concetto di identità, sottrae solo apparentemente le immagini all’oblio del tempo: ricoperte e alterate con la pittura esse acquisiscono un carattere indefinito e inattuale che le riconduce, infatti, ad un tempo remoto. Nei ritratti e dipinti dai colori cupi e dalla pennellata corposa, i lineamenti dei protagonisti, così come i dettagli dei paesaggi e delle ambientazioni, sono solo accennati.<\/span><\/p>\n L’attenzione non si concentrata sul particolare, quanto piuttosto sulle atmosfere evocate, capaci di richiamare un’epoca, vite, storie e situazioni che non sono più e delle quali lo spettatore può percepire la distanza e la perdita definitive. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n _<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The incoming exhibition by Nebojša Despotović at Boccanera Gallery is simultaneously a continuation and a fracture of the investigation into both formal and conceptual aspects of painting, that the author has been preoccupied with during his artistic trajectory. While in Velvet Glove<\/em> (2010), his previous exhibition at the same space, Despotović was dealing with infant subjects, outdoors and vibrant colors, Silent Fracture<\/em> presents a certain maturity, with all contradictions it embodies. Mature, almost mystique subjects and darker enclosed interiors are an effect of the meditation on the personal experience, as well as an investigation of its form in terms of reaching more abstract solutions in his visual regime.<\/span><\/p>\n Silent Fracture<\/span><\/em> can be understood as a metaphor of the cultural aspects of Despotović’s artistic identity — an artist who has been, due to his origin, labeled as Eastern European, has actually acquired his formal education in Italy, and is currently based in Berlin. Being detached from the cultural contexts of his formation, Despotović is inspired by specific niche that is a result of these fractures (from the the text by Maja Ćirić<\/em>).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Released for the opening the exhibition catalogue, in Italian, English and Serbian, with the curator essays and the works’ on show images.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Born in Belgrade (SRB) in 1982. Lives and works in Berlin, Germany. In 2006 he obtained a bachelor degree in painting at Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and in 2011 he graduated in Visual Arts and Discipline of Spectacle at Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. In 2011 he moved to Venice as artist in residence at the ateliers of Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation and has been inviated at the 54. International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale \/ Arsenal – Accademy of Fine Arts. In 2012 he won the Euromobil Under 30 prize at Artefiera Bologna and the Mango Young Artist Award of Swab in Barcellona.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Nebojša Despotović thoroughly exploits the collective iconograhic heritage recycling old photographs and images, newspapers, books, handbooks and magazines, which are the starting point for the artist to create his pantings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Despotović’s research, which pays particular attention to the definition and representation of the concept of identity, only apparently saves these images from the oblivion of time: covered and altered with painting they acquire an indefinite and outdated character which takes them back to a remote past. In his portraits and paintings – characterized by gloomy colours and thick brush strokes – the protagonists’ features, as well as the details of the landscapes and of the scenaries, are just hinted at.<\/span><\/p>\n
